What this tour is

5 stops, 0.7 miles, ordered as one walk.

  • What was filmed at each stop, and which building it is
  • The walk between them, and how long it really takes
  • With the pass: all of it in the app when it lands, which sorts the stops by how far away you are, tells you when you have arrived, and works with no signal. Free to read here in the meantime

    Stop 01 · The NotebookFree

    King and Mary

    The scene

The junction where Noah and Allie lie down in the road to watch the traffic lights change.

Walking back from the cinema, the two of them lie down in the middle of King Street at Mary and wait for the lights. It is two blocks north of the American Theater, so the walk between the two stops is the walk they take in the film.

King St at Mary St, Charleston, SC

    Parking
City garages nearby are Marion Square at 399 King St and Camden/Exchange at 35 John St. City garages are $1 for 20 minutes with a $24 daily maximum. Street meters are $3 an hour, enforced 9am to 6pm, free on Sundays and city holidays.

    William Aiken House

    The scene

Directly across King Street from the theatre.

The dress fitting, and the collapse that follows it when Allie learns about Noah. The house is the yellow one facing the American Theater.

Stop 03 · The NotebookFreeEvents venue

    The American Theater

    The scene

The cinema on the date, and the street outside it.

Noah and Allie watch Buster Keaton in Li'l Abner here, on the double date. The scene where they lie down in the road is not this corner: that is two blocks north, at King and Mary.

    446 King St, Charleston, SC

    Admission
A private events venue now, not a working cinema. The facade is the point and it is on the street.
